Brenda Blisk of Blisk Financial Group Honored for Charitable Work with “In The Bag” and The American Red Cross

McLean, VA – July 24, 2017– Brenda Blisk, volunteer for American Red Cross National Capital Region in Fairfax County, received Honorable Mention for philanthropic excellence in the eleventh annual Invest in Others Awards.

The Invest in Others Charitable Foundation established its awards program to recognize the charitable work of financial advisors and financial services firms in communities across the country and around the world.

Financial advisors are nominated by their peers for actively giving back to non-profits to improve their communities and make a difference in the lives of others. Hundreds of inspirational nominations for the Invest in Others Awards were received this year and reviewed by a diverse panel of leaders in the financial services industry. Those earning Honorable Mention were selected based on their leadership, dedication, contribution, inspiration, and impact on a non-profit and the community it serves.

In 2010, Brenda Blisk, Founder of Blisk Financial Group, aspired to create a philanthropic program at Blisk Financial Group where my employees, Spire Investment Partners, and clients could participate and give back. The goal was to reinforce who Blisk Financial Group is as a company and project its company values while serving the community. The cause that was selected, The American Red Cross, is one that is near and dear to Brenda’s heart, and “In the Bag,’ a designer handbag auction was born. “In The Bag” has raised over $1,115,000 for the American Red Cross over the past eight years with the leadership of fifty volunteers. “In The Bag” will be held on November 10, 2017 at the McLean Hilton. Tickets are on sale at https://inthebagrc.com/.

The American Red Cross shelters, feeds and provides emotional support to victims of disasters; supplies about 40 percent of the nation’s blood; teaches skills that save lives; provides international humanitarian aid; and supports military members and their families. The Red Cross is a not-for-profit organization that depends on volunteers and the generosity of the American public to perform its mission.

The eleventh annual Invest in Others Awards Gala, a premier event attended by over 500 financial advisors and financial services executives, is September 28, 2017 in New York City. Awards will be presented in the following categories: Catalyst, Community Service, Global Community Impact, Volunteer of the Year, Lifetime Achievement, and Corporate Philanthropy.
